About 15 years ago the District 4 (Back Bay, South End) Community Service Office added Tufts Children’s Hospital to its annual Christmas drive to get toys and clothing to the patients and families of the Hematology and Oncology Unit.
This year during COVID, the D4 Community Service Office reached out and asked Tufts Children’s Hospital if there was something in particular they needed. They stated they could use an iPad so that patients could communicate virtually with their loved ones due to visitation restrictions. The Community Service Office then asked the City of Boston Credit Union if it could donate an iPad. The Credit Union replied, saying they would like to donate 31 iPads. Not only will these iPads provide the kids at Tufts with an opportunity to communicate and face time with their families, they will also provide entertainment for them while they are receiving treatment.
